Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo is a book about people who use the small science (which is almost like magic). The main character, Alina, is the Sun Summoner, which is really rare and she turns out to be Ravka’s biggest hope to save them from the Fold (a area of darkness with terrible flesh eating creatures inhabiting it).

Alina’s power was discovered really late in her life and when it was she was taken away immediately by The Darkling (“ruler” of Grisha) to keep her safe from surrounding countries who might want to kill her. The Darkling is bound on finding a way to amplify Alina’s powers, but why? Why does he care so much?

I love the characters, Alina is the type of character that you can easily relate to. She is nothing like all the other Grisha, mainly because she grew up like a normal human girl. Her best friend Mal is a total hunk and he is very loyal to Alina and then there is The Darkling who is this dark handsome man who is also very mysterious.

I really enjoyed the book, because it has a lot of twists and turns, which keeps it fun to read. It was easy to read and I never got bored of it. I just wanted to read more and more and I just couldn’t get enough.

The thing I liked most about this book would be how detailed the Grisha world was . It was a whole new concept and Leigh Bardugo made it work. I think the only thing I disliked about the book would be that it wasn’t longer. I felt like I could keep on reading forever!

I would recommend this book to any fantasy lover, especially Harry Potter fans. It’s a whole new magical concept, but you will love it! I would however not recommend this book to people who don’t like fantasy or Harry Potter (if that’s possible).

I didn’t find any obvious grammar mistakes and therefore I think it’s safe to say that it was properly edited. I rate Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo 5 out of 5 stars!

Personally I woulds say, GO READ IT NOW! You can get your own copy of it here. If you would like a digital copy and save a tree, you can get it here.

Thank you for reading. Tell me what you thought of my review in the comment section below and also feel free to share it.
